Things to do in The City of Roses

Pasadena has been home to Jackalope for over 5 years now. In that time we’ve grown quite fond of the city and the things that make it so unique and easy to love.

Here are a few of our faves:

NEXT UP:

APRIL 25TH & 26TH
10AM - 5PM

CENTRAL PARK

The Rose Parade

One of the things Pasadena is the most famous for has got to be the Rose Parade.

Insider tip - skip the cold and early morning, and go check out the floats up close after the parade has finished when they’re all parked for public viewing on Sierra Madre Blvd.

Hike Eaton Canyon

It’s always a mystery if there’s going to be a small trickle or a decent sized waterfall at the end of your hike. You won’t know until you get there!

The Huntington Library

Nothing beats those gardens! Fun fact, the final phase of the Huntington’s Garden of Flowing Fragrance will make it one of the largest classical-style Chinese gardens in the world!

Explore Old Pasadena

Spend the afternoon shopping in Old Pasadena, where there’s a little bit of everything. Some of our favorite shops to check out: Gold Bug, Homage, and all of the cute spots within One Colorado’s cute courtyard.

Pasadena Playhouse

Mixing up some weekend activities with a live play at the Playhouse can be a great time for all. Pasadena Playhouse hosts events throughout the year in their beautiful theatre in the heart of Pasadena.

Grab A Bite To Eat

Pasadena has such a wide variety of food and drink options. Here are a few faves in different categories:

Me + Crepe is a wonderful twist on crepes. This Chinese street food is not to be missed. One spicy bbq pork crepe, please.

Eats on Madison (Formerly Kitchen United) has a little something for everyone. Best place for the family where no one can agree on what to eat. It’s takeout style, but there are tables to sit at should you want to eat on-site. Grab yourself a grilled cheese with a side of spicy tuna crispy rice while your buddy enjoys a gyro. Everyone’s happy.

Architecture

If you are a sucker for architecture, then take a ride through Pasadena and you will not be disappointed. From City Hall, to Frank Lloyd Wright and The Gamble House designed by Greene & Greene- Pasadena is full of architectural gems.

Norton Simon Museum

Previously known as the Pasadena Art Museum, the museum houses more then 11,000 objects making it known internationally.

When we want to go thrifting or score some vintage treasures, we look no further then to go to the Rose Bowl Flea. Happening the second Sunday of every month, the Rose Bowl flea is one of the most famous markets in the world.

Colorado Street Bridge

I think one of the most beautiful views is from the Colorado Street Bridge! With its arches rising 150 feet, it was once regarded the highest concrete bridge in the world. I also may have a soft spot for it because the bridge was featured in Full House during a bungee jumping scene!
